Rohto Pharmaceutical first developed eye drops in 1909, during the Meiji era when Japan was transitioning to a modern nation. More than 50 years later, the first V-Rohto brand eye drops were launched in 1964, the same year the Tokyo Olympics were held. These eye drops aimed to surpass all previous products in terms of formulation, efficacy, and packaging.

Since then, V-Rohto has set itself the goal of being at the forefront of the times, undergoing multiple renewals and expanding its product variety, and has now reached its 50th anniversary.
