About styes

About styes

A stye is caused by a bacterial infection, such as Staphylococcus aureus, on the edge or inside of the eyelid, and is also medically known as a "hordeolum."
A part of the eyelid becomes swollen and red, initially itchy, and gradually the pain intensifies. If it worsens, the swelling of the eyelid will increase, and pus will appear.
If left untreated, the bacteria can multiply repeatedly, potentially leading to painful purulent inflammation. This is one eye condition that requires particular attention during swimming pool and beach seasons.

A stye is known by various names in different regions, in addition to "monomorai" (stye).

What causes a stye to linger?

When you have a stye, your skin's barrier function is already weakened. If you rub your eye in that state, it might get even worse...

The itching and foreign body sensation of a stye can be bothersome, leading to touching and scratching. This weakens the skin's barrier function, making it easier for bacteria to multiply, and the symptoms may not improve easily, becoming prolonged. The prolonged condition can even worsen.

To prevent it from getting any worse!

Our commitment to developing antibacterial eye drops

Our commitment to developing antibacterial eye drops

The history of Rohto antibacterial eye drops began with "Rohto Eye Drops," launched in April 1909 by "Shintendo Yamada Yasumin Pharmacy," the predecessor of Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
One century after the birth of "Rohto Eye Drops," we focused on the retention of active ingredients and embarked on development to further enhance the therapeutic effect.
After repeatedly verifying the detailed formulation design and spending more than a year since the start of research, the new "Rohto Antibacterial Eye Drops EX" was finally completed.

Not only Rohto Antibacterial Eye Drops EX, but the entire Rohto Antibacterial Eye Drops series is designed with a formula that ensures the active ingredients remain firmly in place on the affected area.
This eye drop is expected to be effective in treating styes and conjunctivitis.
