Gymnastics edition

Morning is the time of day when you are most likely to feel the urge to defecate. If you use your abdominal muscles through exercises at this time, your intestines will be stimulated, increasing peristalsis and making it easier to feel the urge to defecate. In addition, it will help strengthen your abdominal muscles, so you will be able to push out stool with more force when you strain.

When I wake up in the morning, I stretch and do some exercises in bed...
Let's aim to relieve constipation by waking up just 5 minutes earlier.

Exercising in bed!

Flutter kick exercise

Flutter kick exercise

Lie face down with your hands under your face, as if you were doing a flutter kick in swimming, and slowly move your knees up and down in large circles while keeping them straight.
Please do it about 10 times.

Exercising in bed!

Butt-slapping exercise

Butt-slapping exercise

While maintaining the same posture as when doing the flutter kick, this time bend your knees alternately from side to side and lightly tap your buttocks with your heels.
Around 20 times is a good guideline.

Exercising in bed!

Toe-gazing exercise

Toe-gazing exercise

While lying on your back, clasp your hands behind your head, and slightly raise your body to look at your toes.
At this time, be careful not to move only your neck. Aim for about 5 to 10 repetitions.

Exercising in bed!

Leg raise exercises

Lie on your back with your hands at your sides.
Keeping your knee straight, lift your leg about 30 cm off the floor and hold that position for 5-10 seconds. Repeat this 3-5 times.

Exercising in bed!

U-shaped standing exercise

U-shaped standing exercise

First, lie on your back and relax.
Keeping both arms and legs extended, slowly raise them and hold for 3 seconds.
Exhale forcefully, swinging both your arms and legs down, and use the momentum to stand up. Repeat this about five times.

Massage section

Massage is surprisingly effective, even though it's very simple. Massaging your stomach and lower back directly stimulates the large intestine, promoting peristalsis.
Make it a habit to massage yourself every morning, either while lying in bed or while sitting on the toilet.

Note

Are your hands and fingertips cold when you touch your stomach?
Before massaging, make sure to warm your hands by rubbing them together or soaking them in warm water.

Warm lower back massage

Warm lower back massage

Straighten your back, and cup your hands around your lower back and upper back, then gently stroke up and down.

The key is to use your fingers when lifting and your palm when lowering. Improving blood circulation in the lower back makes it easier to feel the urge to defecate.

Lower abdominal stimulation massage

Try gently pressing on the inside of your hip bone in your lower left abdomen. If you lie on your back and check, you should be able to tell if you are constipated because this area will feel tense.

This area is the sigmoid colon, where stool tends to accumulate when you're constipated, so stimulating this area can be quite effective.

  1. Lower abdominal stimulation massagePlace your fingers together on the sigmoid colon, and use your other hand to gently press about 20 times.
  2. Lower abdominal stimulation massageGradually move your fingertips diagonally downwards until you reach the base of your leg, then start massaging again from the original position.
Try repeating this about 10 times.
