Did you know that UV protection is necessary all year round?
Monthly levels of ultraviolet radiation gradually increase from early spring, peaking in May. (See graph)
While the intense sunlight of midsummer may seem more powerful, as the graph shows, a considerable amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation actually begins in May and June! UV rays are a major enemy of beautiful skin, as they increase melanin production, causing freckles and age spots, and penetrate deep into the skin, leading to wrinkles.
For spring outings, it's a good idea to start using UV protection early on.
Particular caution is needed during the hours when UV rays are strongest, from 9 AM to 4 PM. It's important to protect your skin with sunscreen or foundation with high UV protection.
Even indoors, don't let your guard down! Even on cloudy days or indoors, don't let your guard down! Even indoors, ultraviolet rays penetrate glass and reach your skin. For example, when you go into a cafe, the open terrace seats are nice, but you're also exposed to a lot of ultraviolet rays.
To thoroughly prevent those gloomy blemishes and freckles, it might be worth being a little overly cautious.
Ultraviolet rays are present all year round.
Be especially careful in April and May as they head towards their peak!
