Acne is a skin condition in which pores become clogged with thickened keratin and excess sebum, leading to sebum buildup and inflammation. While it's often thought to be unique to adolescence due to increased sebum production, acne can actually develop for a variety of reasons, including age, season, and lifestyle!
If left untreated, acne can damage the tissue around the pores and cause excessive melanin production, leading to hyperpigmentation and scarring. Early care is essential.

If you get a pimple, check its color to determine its stage.
Whiteheads are a condition where sebum is accumulating inside a clogged pore. This is the most common type of acne, and it's best to treat it early at this stage. Blackheads refer to a condition where sebum accumulated inside the pore is pushed to the skin's surface and oxidizes and turns black due to oxygen in the air.
Red acne is a state of inflammation where acne bacteria repeatedly multiply inside the pores. If the inflammation worsens and pus forms, it becomes yellow acne, and in more advanced cases, pus and blood can accumulate inside the pores, causing swelling.

If inflammation occurs, it can worsen easily and take longer to heal. Furthermore, there's a higher chance of scarring, so it's important to take good care of the area before inflammation develops.
