Nearly half of young men and women want to get married and have children, but the number of people who actually want to get married and have children has decreased compared to 2018.
In particular, the percentage of young women who intend to marry has decreased from 77.4% to 65% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, one in three young men in their late twenties said they do not want children. It seems that there is a growing trend towards diversification of life plans.

The average age at which young men and women want to get married is 29.4 years old. The percentage of those hoping to get married in their early twenties has slightly increased to 41.4%, compared to 38.5% in 2018. Although it's only a small increase, more people are wanting to get married earlier.

The average ideal age for young men and women to have their first child is 30.9 years old. 80% of young women want to give birth by their early 30s.
Looking at it in more detail, about half of women aged 18-24 ideally want to give birth in their late 20s.
Among young men, the desired age for having their first child rose from 15.1% to 20.1% for those in their late 20s, while conversely, the desired age for those in their late 30s decreased from 31.3% to 23.8%.
9. The image of "trying to conceive"
It has been found that there are differences in perceptions of fertility treatment between men and women.
Positive perceptions of men trying to conceive are increasing.
On the other hand, women are often associated with negative images such as "looking like they're suffering" or "looking like they're in a serious situation."

Men who are trying to conceive tend to have positive images associated with them, such as "family-oriented" (30.1%) and "having a life plan" (24.6%), with a particularly high number of responses from women aged 45-49. Younger men aged 18-24 tended to have images of them as "energetic," "enjoying life," and "happy," compared to other age groups.
Women undergoing fertility treatment are perceived as "suffering" or "serious" by about 16% more men than women, suggesting a somewhat negative image. In particular, about 40% of women aged 25-44 responded that it "seems difficult" (45.7%), which is 1.6 times higher than those who said it "has a life plan" (27.1%) and about twice as high as those who said it "is family-oriented" (22.3%).

Trying to conceive can begin with everyday activities that involve taking care of one's body. One in three young men and women are already taking steps that can be easily started now. In particular, "moderate exercise" was popular at 13.7%, "a regular lifestyle" at 10.2%, and "keeping the body warm" at 10.1%, indicating that things that can be done as an extension of daily life are popular. Furthermore, some are taking a proactive approach, such as "gathering information."
